Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him?)

I finally had a chance to see this 2010 doc.  Having briefly met Nilsson after moving to LA in 1980 ("Kisses For Peace" at Beatlefest), not to mention LOVING his songs, it was long overdue.  Of course, there was always the Beatles connection to intrigue me, too ... as a teenager I read about his exploits with Lennon et. al. at The Troubadour, e.g. (little did I know how much time I would end spending there myself!).  The good news is, you will most likely be impressed (again?) with his songwriting (I certainly was) ... & what a unique voice!  I immediately sought him out on Spotify & played his music for a couple of hours & thoroughly enjoyed it.  The sad news, he was younger than me when he died & probably could have extended his life by many years with better habits.  The doc is on Netflix and well worth the 2 hours if you're into songwriting, music history, music business, etc.

Just watched "About Time"

Ronan & I just finished watching a very sweet and moving film that I seemed to have missed when it came out last year called "About Time."  It was made even better by an amazing placement of my friend Ron Sexsmith's song "Gold In Them Hills."  You can listen to the song here.   Actually, I found all the music in the film to be very thoughfully selected and used.  Oddly enough, there was no music supervisor listed in the credits!  To me the main theme of the film is to love well and live each day to the fullest.  I highly recommend it!!
